SERVED FRESH!: Lil Nas X - "Old Town Road (f/ Billy Ray Cyrus)" (Video)

May 20, 2019

Since going viral at the top of the year, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" -- famously inspired by the highly-accalimed videogame Red Dead Redemption -- has turned into a cultural moment.

The song was famously removed from Billboard's Country charts, creating a nationwide conversation about appropriation and appreciation.

Transcending the controversy, "Old Town Road" went No. 1 on Billboard's all-encompassing Hot 100 chart, making the 1 minute, 53 second song the shortest to reach the top since 1965.

In April, a remix of the song was released, dawning a feature from veteran Country star Billy Ray Cyrus (and it wasn't an April Fools' joke.) Immedately following the release of the official remix, Cyrus took to Twitter to show his support.

Shortly after, the remix went No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 and Rap charts. However, even with Billy Ray Cyrus' backing, the song is not making an appearance on the Country chart.

On Saturday, the pair released the "official movie" for the single, which garnered just shy of 50 million views in three days.

With a cast including the likes of Chris Rock, Haha Davis, Diplo, Vince Staples, and more, a "movie" doesn't seem to be so far-fetched of a title.
