UPDATES: Northern California fires & Power outages

Northern California continues to face dangerous fires and winds that have caused severe damage and power outages throughout the area including here in Sacramento.   

10/29/2019 - 11:30am:  PG&E is expecting to shut the power off for another blackout which will affect 605,000 customers (1.5 million people) in 29 Northern California counties.  This will be the third planned blackout in the last week.  There were still over 400,000 households without power earlier this morning from the prior outage.   For more info: Click here


10/29/2019 11:00 am:  U-Haul is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to residents affected by the ongoing wildfires in California.  U-Haul Companies of East Bay, East Sacramento, Fresno, Northwest California, Northern Nevada, San Bernardino, San Francisco, South Bay, Van Nuys/San Luis Obispo and West Sacramento have made 39 facilities available to offer the disaster relief assistance program.People seeking additional information can contact their nearest participating U-Haul facility.

10/28/2019 2:30pm UPDATE: 2 firefighters have been injured while fighting the Kincade Fire which as left over 65,000 acres burt and is currently at 5% contained.   186,000 People remain evacuated.  

As of 8:30a, about 1,700 SMUD customers were without power with 32 active outages.  

For customers impacted PG&E's Public Safety Power Shutoff, PG&E has opened Community Resource Centers that are providing restrooms, bottled water, & more services.  For locations : Click Here

PG&E is expecting to issue a weather "all Clear" today, but more wind in the forecast could call for additional power shutoffs Tuesday to Wednesday.
