New Law Makes Changes to Youth Football

August 1, 2019

Your child's football practices may be changing because of this new law.

According to CBS 13 Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law that will limit full contact practice to 30 minutes per day twice a week

Middle and high school students are allowed to have two 90 minute practices a week under state law.

A medical professional will now also be required to stand in on games. The goal of the law is to prevent brain injuries.

What do you think of the new practice times? I grew up in Elk Grove, and went to Elk Grove High School (shoutout to the Thundering Herd!)

I know how seriously people take football around these parts! I also appreciate us looking out for the health of our youth, ESPECIALLY while their brains are still developing!
