Daycare Workers Wax Child's Unibrow

February 11, 2018

A daycare center in Washington state is under investigation after the mother of a two-year-old complained that workers there waxed her daughter's eyebrows.

Alyssa Salgado says she was shocked when she went to pick up her daughter and noticed that her unibrow had been waxed. It's not clear if the babysitters did it as a joke or if they believed they were doing the child a favor, but Salgado was understandably upset and expressed her anger on Facebook.

Salgado wrote, "I saw a red mark in between her eyebrows. I think it’s a scratch but as soon as a get home I get a closer look. These women decided to wax my daughter's unibrow... I am a mother. Nothing like this should ever happen and they had no right to touch my daughter at all. I birthed my daughter and love every little thing about her, and these so-called women took it upon themselves to correct the way my daughter should look."

The Washington State Department of Early Learning, which issues licenses to daycare facilities, is leading an investigation. Meanwhile, Salgado has pulled her daughter out of the facility.

At the very least, the daycare center should lose its license.
