The Colonel’s nephew showed a will to a reporter which included a recipe of 11 ingredients that is believed to be the top-secret recipe for KFC’s chicken.

This ‘highly guarded’ recipe has been used by KFC as a marketing ploy to promote their fried chicken. Joe Ledington is the nephew of the famous Colonel from KFC. Ledington met with a reporter from the Chicago Tribune writer and was sharing a family scrapbook with him. In the scrapbook was the Colonel’s will and on the back was a handwritten recipe with these 11 ingredients listed in the picture below.

This is how the recipe reads:

11 spices — Mix with 2 cups white fl
1) 2/3 Ts salt
2) 1/2 Ts thyme
3) 1/2 Ts basil
4) 1/3 Ts oregano
5) 1 Ts celery salt
6) 1 Ts black pepper
7) 1 Ts dried mustard
8) 4 Ts paprika
9) 2 Ts garlic salt
10) 1 Ts ground ginger
11) 3 Ts white pepper

KFC is denying that this is the recipe but a few folks have tried making it at home and they say it tastes really close to the original recipe…if you supposedly add MSG it tastes exactly the same.
