A bride named Julie Stroyne Nixon was on her way to her wedding reception when she heard someone scream: “Does anyone know CPR? Is anyone a doctor?”
Nixon, a trauma nurse, said she saw a woman lying on a bench outside the hotel where her guests were staying, and her nursing instincts took over!
“Somebody told me she didn’t have a pulse so I jumped into action and started doing compressions,” the newlywed recalled. “It got stronger as I kept feeling for it which was a good sign. Her respirations were very shallow but I think the action of me giving compressions kind of woke her up.”
Nixon said she is happy that all she drank at her ceremony was one glass of champagne, or else she may have not been able to help the way she did.
