If You Drive Less Than Ten Miles Over the Speed Limit, You’ll Never Get a Ticket . . . And Three Other Tips to Avoid One

If you’ve ever wanted insider info on how to avoid a speeding ticket, ABC News talked about it with a retired NYPD officer, and his number one tip was pretty simple:

As long as you don’t drive more than 10 miles over the limit, you’ll virtually never get pulled over.  He added, quote, “If you were my brother or my cousin and asked me, that’s what I would tell you.”  Here are three more tips he offered up.

1.  Make Sure Everyone in the Car Has Their Hands Visible-  You’ve probably heard this before, but cops are trained to assume everyone they pull over is packing heat.

So if your hands are visible, it makes them less on edge.  And that means they’re less likely to give you a ticket.  The former cop also says that if it’s dark out, the first thing you should do is turn your interior light on.

2.  Play Dumb-  When he asks if you know why he pulled you over, your best bet is to just act clueless.  Then when he says you were speeding or ran a red light, pretend you feel really bad about it.

3.  Be an Attractive Woman-  If you happen to be one, you obviously have a much better chance of not getting a ticket.  And according to the cop, showing a little leg usually doesn’t hurt . . . if it’s a male cop anyway.

He admits that, quote, “attractive women get more breaks.”  And also concedes that crying does work sometimes.
