Drake Rewrites Record for Most #1 Rap Songs

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Drake[/lastfm], who is coming to Davis, CA March 7th on tour, rewrites the mark for most #1 song rakings in Billboard’s Rap Song list’s 23-year history.

Drake, in less than three years, has become the best the chart ever had.

Drake earns his 11th No. 1 on the ranking, which “Make Me Proud,” featuring Nicki Minaj, rises 2-1. With the ascension of “Proud,” Drake breaks a tie with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Diddy[/lastfm] for the most No. 1s on Rap Songs. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Diddy[/lastfm] rang up 10 rulers on the chart between 1996’s [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil’ Kim[/lastfm]-fronted ”No Time” and 2003’s “Shake Ya Tailfeather,” with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nelly[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Murphy Lee[/lastfm].

Drake burst onto Rap Songs with his 15-week debut No. 1 “Best I Ever Had” in 2009, marking the chart’s second-longest reign; [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott’s [/lastfm]”Hot Boyz,” featuring Nas, Eve and Q-Tip, racked 18 weeks at No. 1 in 1999-2000.
