2 b g Girly Comedies Are Ruling The Airwaves of Television

As television viewers we’ve been bombarded with so many new shows this season that it could make your head spin! It seems like every night there is a new TV show or ten and what I’ve been drawn to are the comedies that seem to be aimed at girlies like me. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that there are already plenty of dramas, crime-solving  action and boy comedies out there, we don’t  need any more of those for sure!

These aren’t just “for girl comedies” either… I’ve been watching these finely crafted shows with my other half and he loves them too!  As a matter-of-fact if we miss the original showing, I’m not allowed to press play on the DVR without him.

My first fave is 2 Broke Girls which debuted as the number one new comedy last week with 19.4 million viewers.  It’s a story about a girl named Max played by Kat Dennings who is  a struggling waitress with a cheating ex-boyfriend and an affinity for baking the hell out of any flavor of cupcake. Her new co-worker who she befriends is Caroline played by actress Beth Behrs. Her character is like a younger, cooler more likeable Paris Hilton type whom we grow fond she’s a rich girl whose father was involved in an Enron type situation that left the entire family penniless. She takes a job as a waitress when she has nowhere else to turn.

Caroline is wildly oblivious to how the average person lives day-to-day all she has to her name is the clothes she could grab and her thoroughbred horse that now lives in the backyard of their very small apartment.  Caroline has big ideas on how to make money, and it all stems from Max’s cupcakes.  Hilarious is an understatement, unlike so many other comedies on TV; you don’t see the jokes coming and they are boldly going where no one has gone before.  Check out Two Broke Girls  on CBS Monday nights.

I knew I was going to love the next show the moment I heard that Zooey Deschanel was a part of it!  It’s called  New Girl,  it’s on Fox and it airs on Tuesday nights. The show didn’t have a shabby opening week either , with 10.1 million tuning in to check it out.  Zooey plays a quirky girl named Jess who catches her man cheating on her; and she needs a place to live immediately  so she finds three bachelors who have an ad on Craigslist.  The first episode has her rambling about clothing and her cheating ex as well as non-stop crying jags as she watches “Dirty Dancing” hours on end.

This weeks’ episode had her standing up for herself and finding the power she didn’t even know she had for her man who she’s dubbed, “Mr. Crabs”.

Here’s a look at the episode from this week  where Jess  (Zooey Deschanel) realizes that her ex is her  “kryptonite”:

If you want non-stop laughter for girls OR guys you will love this new show!  Yesterday it was even announced that this comedy that we’ve been waiting for has already been renewed for a second season.
